Extruded cut in an assembly

Extruded cut in an assembly

(OP)
I created an extruded cut in an assembly (top assy).  I want the cut to only intersect 1 part.  When I edit the definition there is a parts bin that pops up when I click on the "Intersect" tab that shows the possible intersecting parts.  When I highlight one of the parts and then right-click it there is an option to "remove" it (along with "information").  However, the "remove" selection is faded out and I cannot click it.  I clicked on every part in the bin and I cannot select remove on any of them.

Here's the question:  Why is the "remove" selection faded out and un-selectable.  And what do I do to remove a part from the intesecting parts list?

Thanks in advance for all your assistance.

Regards,
SrG.

Uncheck the "Automatic Update" option in the same tab.
