Minimized file icon size adjustment

Minimized file icon size adjustment

Minimized file icon size adjustment

How can the size of the icons for minimized files be adjusted to show more characters in the file name?

As it happens, my drawing numbers contain 7 digits and only 5 show up.  This means that I'm forever trying to guess which file to work on next when working on several drawings.  Splitting the screen up will make the drawings smaller so that is not a preffered option.

Thanks

RE: Minimized file icon size adjustment

When you say 'drawings', I assume you really mean model files.
If that's the case, I don't know of a way to expand them.

Why are you minimising them anyway? If you leave them maximised you can use the Window > Cascade feature to view all open files with the full file name, then simply double-click the one you want to maximise.

You could also just select from the Window drop-down list.

IMO, the Minimise mode is a waste of time, it does not improve perfomance nor does it help in selection, in fact, as you have found out, it makes selection more difficult.

Thanks CorBlimey

I use the cascade feature for CAM files because they're just easy to read text files, but my old eyes need the large screen area for drawing (modelling).

I gave you a star however for the drop down list.  That's nice and easy and I hadn't thought of it.

Thanks for making my life easier.

RE: Minimized file icon size adjustment

Thanks ... but I'm a little confused. When using the cascaded views, if you double click on one of them it will maximise to give you "the large screen area". When done with that view, simply return to the cascade views ... it is only two clicks away ...Window > Cascade. If you want a one-click solution record a macro of those two steps & place a button on a toolbar, or make a keyboard shortcut.

For more screen viewing area, slide the tree view window bar all the way to the side.

Thanks guys.

This was a pretty fundamental question I know.  Sometimes a person gets set in their ways of working and needs a reminder that there are better ways.  The cascade method works better for me too than the way I was working.  Also it is good to "keep it simple stupid" and both your replies are a much simpler solution than I was looking for.
