I Need a Terramodel "Guru" help with hardware lock problem

(OP)
I've owned and used Terramodel (Basic Cogo, Cad Module) for almost 20 years with nary a problem and never felt the need to upgrade. I recently bought both a new laptop and desk top computers and find that my hardware lock will not work with either computer (the laptop does not even have a parallel port, the desk top which is running WinXP will not recognize the hardware lock). I've been trying to contact Spectravision regarding the problem but so far haven't been able to get a reply. Any suggestions short of the multi-thousand dollar upgrade to the latest Terramodel will be greatly appreciated.

RE: I Need a Terramodel "Guru" help with hardware lock problem

There's probably little hope without someone who can write some code to fudge out the OS.  XP does not allow direct access to the computer's resources, which is probably how your lock works.

Presumably, there is a way to cocoon the program to think that it's operating as usual, but that would require some coding from a OS programmer

RE: I Need a Terramodel "Guru" help with hardware lock problem

Have you run/installed the Sentinel Lock software as well as Terramodel ?
I run Windows XP Professional on laptop and PC without any problems. (Teramodel Vers 10.4 with USB Hardware Lock.) I never had any problems when using an older notebook fitted with LPT1 slot.
Hope this is the way out for you.

Thanks to both IRstuff & Lexington for their replies. I have installed the latest Sentinel drivers to no avail. On my XP desktop I can run an old zip drive and other devices from the parallel port with no problems. I have even tried reconfiguring the CMOS for the most basic parallel port setup with no luck. Still have not had any replies from either Spectra-vision or Sentinel.  Thanks again.
