is there a way of stopping the tree from going up and down when you spin the wheel mouse? It's driving me nuts!

RE: scrolling the spec tree

Hi,

F3(hide tree) is good?

But I still need to see the tree. It goes up/down when I zoom in/out on the part and accidentally I spin the wheel.

RE: scrolling the spec tree

Forgive me for giving an obtuse answer...

I absolutely HATE the wheel mouse, for the very reason that you are mentioning.  My solution was simply to get rid of the wheel mouse, and go back to the standard 3-button mouse that came with the workstation.

I realize that this doesn't suit most peoples' desire for "bells and whistles,"   But the simple fact is, they weren't made for CAD programs.  And, last I looked, there weren't any major manufacturers who were shipping the wheel mouse as standard equipment with a CAD intended workstation.

Of course, I'm also the guy who still longs for the days when workstations came with the old "click" type keyboards.  Man, those sure were wonderful...  I've never typed on anything so nice, and it seemed like I could type about 100 words per minute on them, whereas I can only do about 50 on a "soft touch" keyboard.  I really drove people nuts with the clatter! (but who cares - what a wonderful piece of equipment!)

Oh, sorry...  No the mouse is a pain.  Deal with it, or replace it with equipment that has a propensity towards CAD...

thanks for your suggestions. I just thought there might be a hidden solution. The thing is that I also use Solidworks which fully utilizes the wheel mouse. I guess I'm gonna have to live with it for now.

RE: scrolling the spec tree

My wheel mouse originally drove me nuts too, however I have learned to love it now.  When working with a large wireframe/surface part, with a huge tree, it is great to be able to scroll up and down the tree with the weel, rather than moving over to the slider and moving it up and down.

PS I use a Magellan to do my 3-D rotations most of the time, but I have found that practice has taught me to be able to pan and rotate using the wheel without scrolling.
