Voltage Reversing
Voltage Reversing
(OP)
hello Gents.
i had a what i think very simple question.
i am designing a heater, the heater will finally have a plug like any apparatous, as you know the plug may have two position so, the 220 volt will be swapped to my heater,i.e i will get 220V instead of the neutral. what shall i do to prevent this???

RE: Voltage Reversing
In the US, swapping the two 220V connections will make no difference because they are both "hot".
RE: Voltage Reversing
Since your device is going to be connected in a standard socket, the people who will certify your product (I presume that you will want it to have a UL, CE, or CB on it) will have the last word on what is safe to do.

Therefore, power reversal mustn't be a real problem since everyone would have the same issue for everything. Thus, all the above advice probably covers it off very nicely.
But certainly consult the local codes.
