RE: wiring single phase motor with for/rev switch

Hello HVACNEWGUY,

The wires P1 and P2 are the thermal protector.

You have a Dual Voltage Single Phase Motor the T1-T2-T3 and T4 are the Main Winding(Run) and T8 & T5 The auxiliary winding (Start). The first to do is choice the voltage(High or Low) and the connections are:

Voltage    Rotation    L1    L2    Join
High        CCW            1    4,5    2-3-8
        CW            1    4,8    2-3-5
Low        CCW           1,3,8    2,4,5    ----
        CW           1,3,5    2,4,8    ----

The direction of shaft rotation can be determined by facing end of the opposite the drive.

You could use a drum switch to perform the foward and reverse .

RE: wiring single phase motor with for/rev switch

Hi Petronila

While pondering your excellent answer I wondered how you had this knowledge so did a search on google and found a reference to print and keep in my notebook. I work with both US and Euro motors and have been fortunate enough to get info with or on motors.

RE: wiring single phase motor with for/rev switch

machmech,

One of the best references for motor information that I have come across is the Brook Hansen 'Little Red Book'. It is, or was, available from the manufacturer for a nominal cost. I hope they are still publishing it and it isn't yet another casualty of closing the Guiseley and Huddersfield manufacturing works' and shifting production to Poland. Quality was the first casualty, should anyone be wondering.

I can no longer find it listed on their website. You might ring them up and enquire if it is still available.
