Updating solidworks bom

Updating solidworks bom

(OP)
i currently use solidworks 2005 and my question is this, i have a customer that i have designed a enclosure for my questions is how can i in the bom have each panel callout the dim of each example: rear panel 12x14.5x.75 and to be able to update any help would be appreciated.

RE: Updating solidworks bom

Put the Dim into a Custom Property and have the CP brought into the BOM - See help fro details.

Thanks for the quick reply now that i have what format should i use to ensure my numbers show up exactly the way i want them to, havent done much work in customizing the properties menu.

RE: Updating solidworks bom

You only need to insert a CP, give it a name and when it asks for a value click on the Dimension. If you have multiple dimensions you can add them into the same value (add a separator). However if you multiple dimensions you need separate properties for then you maybe better off making a Design Table and adding the values like that into the CP (Help will give the property names). You have to do this at the part stage.

Each property must have it's own property, but if you want them to show up in the BOM you will have maintain the same names throughout each of the parts. That away the BOM will reflect each component and that property.

Once you are in the Drawing (SW BOM) you can add a column and pick the custom property that you made for all the Dimensions for all the parts.
