More PDM red letter confusion.

More PDM red letter confusion.

I swear this red letter business is getting tired.  My last problem involved daylight savings time, this time however...

Upon check in of a file/assem that was recently checked out, certain files appear as (file w/ same name exists) red text, and, get ready, the = symbol.  These files can be reloaded from the vault and still appear red on check in.

As far as I know, when trying to check in a part with the same number, the letters are red and the symbol is the green triangle.

RE: More PDM red letter confusion.

That sounds to me like the file has not been upgraded to SW06. I had this happen on me and it was because the file was not yet upgraded to SW06. After I Checked it out, saved it checked it in (red text), then checked it back out and in again the text was gone, because it was upgraded to SW06.

If you have not upgraded your vault check out Task scheduler, it will upgrade your Vault.

Thanks for the input, it seems like the primary way to solve the red letter deal is to check parts in over themselves.  I am pretty sure the part was drawn in SW06 so I can't be sure if that was the problem, but the fix is definately to check out, save, and check in again.  It would be nice if PDM could tell you what is wrong instead of the symbol/color code, just cause it seems sometimes they mean multiple things.

Could you explain what you mean by:
"If you have not upgraded your vault check out Task scheduler, it will upgrade your Vault."
At this point I have not scheduled any tasks.  Does this have to do with updating parts in the vault to SW06 versions?

Thanks,

Clem

RE: More PDM red letter confusion.

If you use the TS you can update the files in the vault to the latest version of SW.

You can find TS in your start\programs\solidworks

That's what I thought.  Thanks for motivating me to take care of this issue.  I don't like to be to liberal with the stars, but...
