Changing colors of part surfaces

Changing colors of part surfaces

Changing colors of part surfaces

(OP)
I am trying to change the color of certain faces of a part which is in an assembly. The problem is - the color does get changed in the part file, but once I go back to the assembly, the whole part shows up as monochrome. How can I avoid this?

RE: Changing colors of part surfaces

Keep it simple! Only change the face colour in the part file.

You may find the ModelColors and ModelProperties macros at http://webpages.charter.net/mkikstra/SolidWorks.html useful.

Also, the Face Color and Feature Color macros at http://mysite.verizon.net/mjlombard/

RE: Changing colors of part surfaces

First, follow CorBlimeyLimey's advice, or you'll easily lose control of your face colors (by mixing face color changes within the context of an assembly, for example--don't do this).

The simple way to change a face is to select it, right click, and choose face properties.  You can change colors there.  (You can also CTRL-select multiple faces and do the same thing.)
