FYI
Last night on NBC Nightly News (Thursday) there was a segment on the topic. It discussed the same items we do in this Forum, and told of the major amount of money spent by U.S. business to teach employees proper grammar and spelling.

We are not spending our time on an insignificant problem.

Buy a dictionary, keep it nearby and USE it. Webster's New World Dictionary of American English is recommended, and Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.

RE: grammar & spelling

How much is a "major amount".  Wouldn't "large amount", or "significant amount" be more grammatically correct?

At least we are spending our employers' money on something significant, and not wasting it on something pointless like surfing the web.

MintJulep and rnd2;

We were not advised of the amount of money.

Local idioms? We have been accused of spending time on "insignificant problems". Little do they know...!!!

RE: grammar & spelling

No double negatives ain't no good

RE: grammar & spelling

Sounds good to me.  Very positive statement in a roundabout way.  'Yeah-sure' you say but whaddaiknow in light of the fact that I don't even know what is a  doudle negative ?
