make assembly update parts

make assembly update parts

Forgive me for contaminating this forum with simple questions while I learn SW.  But I have an assembly which is reluctant to update parts when I change them.  I pick the 'rebuild' traffic light; that doesn't do anything.  The 'rebuild' command doesn't do anything; the only way seems to be to pick the part in the assembly tree, and right click 'edit part'.  There must be a better way.

RE: make assembly update parts

How are you changing the part & what are you changing? (dimensions, colour, material?)
The "safest" way to change a part in an assy, is to RMB the part in the Feature Manager, select Edit Part & then  make the changes. Then when you close the edit session, the part should  automatically update.
You should also be able to simply double-click on a feature to see its controlling dimensions, double-click on a dimension to see the Modify box, change the dimension, click the Rebuild icon in the modify box & then hit the Enter key.

Do you have any configurations or equations of the parts you are changing. The config being changed must be "active". i.e. it must be the one that is showing when it is open.

BTW, what version of SW are you using?
