Scaling Assemblies for Rapid Protyping

Scaling Assemblies for Rapid Protyping

Scaling Assemblies for Rapid Protyping

(OP)
Hi,
Running SW'05 SP4.  I have an assembly of about two dozen parts and I'm trying to scale the whole thing 1/10X at once to be saved as an SLT for the rapid prototyping machine rather than scaling each part individually.  Anyone know of a "Scale Assembly," function?
Thanks,
Dale

RE: Scaling Assemblies for Rapid Protyping

Dale,

I just tried this but you could save the assembly as a part then bring the part into session then apply a scale.  The only problem is the solid bodies need to be repositioned.  If you are doing a SLA model the manufacture will want individual parts not an assembly.  I just got an enclosure done in SLA and I did all the parts individually.  maybe I'm missing something here

RE: Scaling Assemblies for Rapid Protyping

Well, if your "assembly" has multiple bodies after saving as a part--and if those bodies are truly separate entities, you can go to Feature > Save Bodies to save each body (after scaling) as separate parts.  (But then you'll need to open each part and export to STL or whatever you need as a file format.)  This solution will still require some messing-around time for all the scaling and exporting.

RE: Scaling Assemblies for Rapid Protyping

Doesn't the rapid protype machine have the scaling built into it?
