forgot password when uploading hardware configuration

(OP)
We would like to change existing cpu(6ES7-315-2AF03-0AB0) to new cpu(6ES7-315-2AG10-0AB0). But forgot password while trying upload hardware configuration. Does someone give us suggestion. Our software version is 5.3.

RE: forgot password when uploading hardware configuration

According to my Siemens guys, you're toast.

They claim that there is no backdoor into the processor if you forget your password.

I'd love to hear if I'm wrong. I'll be as angry as you will be happy. The point is, if the password is easily overridden then it's worthless.

Please post an update if you find an answer.

RE: forgot password when uploading hardware configuration

I am not sure with Siemens controllers, but, with Allen Bradley PLC units you can use a program called comm view 32, and input in a series of numbers for eg. 1111111111, and watch the response from the controller in the comm view window. Input it twice. The Allen Bradley PLC will respond back with the expected password. Just a suggestion.
