Pipe Stabbing?

Pipe Stabbing?

Pipe Stabbing?

(OP)
What does "pipe stabbing" mean?  I understand it's a British or European term.

Good luck,
Latexman

RE: Pipe Stabbing?

It is not a term that I have heard here in South Africa. Perhaps you misheard someone say "stub in"?

RE: Pipe Stabbing?

stub-in/stab-in= same thing

basicaly welding small pipe into large pipe without fittings.

RE: Pipe Stabbing?

in public works in the United States - generally refers to inserting a bell end of a pipe into the spigot as you lay the pipe in the bottom of a trench.

RE: Pipe Stabbing?

cvg is right.  Stabbing is also a drilling term meaning to place the male threads of a piece of the drillstring, such as a joint of drillpipe, into the mating female threads, prior to making up tight.

Thanks everyone.  I thought this referred to something from the oil patch.  Looks like it's common to other areas too.

Good luck,
Latexman
