RE: Upgrade vs New Install SW2006

I personally always go with the new install.  Upgrades are usually bad news in SW world.

RE: Upgrade vs New Install SW2006

Upgrade = world of hurt

RE: Upgrade vs New Install SW2006

CADShark,

I suggest looking in the FAQ Section under SolidWorks Installation.  A lot of great information in getting up and running without the normal problems.  I would go with new installation and don't for get to turn off your virus scan.

Thanks for the feedback.

Heckler,
about the virus scan...mine runs off a server, so turning it off means turning EVERYONE off for the install.  Kinda sucks.  I've heard about the bugs associated with doing a install with it on.

Thanks SBaugh,
But my IT guys intercepted the package when it came in.  So I didn't see that page.

RE: Upgrade vs New Install SW2006

OK then... Tell your IT to turn the page over and read the first line under "Recommendations"

It says:

Quote (Solidworks):

"When you install Solidworks 2006 software, we recommend that you install it as a new isntallation. Do not install it as an update to Solidworks 2005."

Best of luck to you!
