Splitting parts

Splitting parts

(OP)
Hello everyone

If I am splitting a part by creating a sketch on the original part and then splitting the part along that sketch, I run into 2 issues:

1. The sketch cuts through all. What if I want to cut through only certain distance?
2. Is the new part created linked to the sketch geometry, i.e. if I change the sketch geometry, will the new part automatically update?

Thanks for the help.

RE: Splitting parts

If you're splitting the part - don't you want to cut thru the whole thing?

When you're done - you should have a milti-body part - still one part.

Are you using the split feature? I'm not too familiar with that one - but I'll study-up on it if that's what you're doing.
