Contamination in multiproduct pipelines

Contamination in multiproduct pipelines

Contamination in multiproduct pipelines

(OP)
Hi there!

Can anyone help me in giving some information about estimating the cross-contamination in a multiproduct pipeline when the transported fluids are separated by a mechanical device (i.e "a pig")?

We have used the Austin-Palfrey Equation to calculate the interface volume, when not using pigs to separate the fluids, but in tnis case, the two fluids (one has a viscosity of 500 cP and a gravity of 17 °API and the other is 700 cP and 17 °API) will be transported in batches, each one separated by a pig, to minimize contamination.

Any help will be very well appreciated.
