Flat Screens-which is best for Pro/E?

Flat Screens-which is best for Pro/E?

RE: Flat Screens-which is best for Pro/E?

Steve,

I worked few years ago, when the LCD's were still a nice dream, with a wonderful product: Silicon Graphics 1600 SW LCD display. It was, in my opinion, the best LCD I ever saw. I never saw such a sharp image on any actual LCD.

You need a special connector to plug this screen to your computer. But I think SGI is not supporting any more this great product. Check this site: http://www.icir.org/hodson/1600sw/gfx1600sw.html

and this useful information about it:

I suggest you to take a look at their site http://www.sgi.com/products/peripherals/displays/ and chek thei last products. They have an office on Transcanada West highway (on the service road), near the Cote Vertu exit.

We just bought some IBM 19" LCD here at the office, but are far away from the professional CRTs. Nice products, sharp but not as sharp as a CRT. Refresh rate can go up to 75 Hz for a resolution of 1200 x 1024.

Good luck in choosing the best screen for you needs.

Dell has a nice 24" model that runs 1920x1200 for about a thousand bucks.  Great LCD for the $$$.  We have 2, they look good to me.  I'm still using a Sony 24" CRT at same resolution & I don't see much difference.

If you want to go all out, look at the monitors by Lacie (www.lacie.com).
I lived with a graphic designer who had one of these and the brightness and clarity of this monitor was incredible.
It ran on a Mac so I never saw Pro/E on it (she wouldn't let me near that computer.. figures, she was my girlfriend), but I'd imagine it would be painful to switch back if you have one of these.

I have a Dell ultra sharp 19" LCD and I am very please with it. I couldn't afford a larger LCD. It has a resolution of 1280 x 1024 and a refresh rate of 75 Hz. I run Pro/E Wildfire 2.0 64bit and the graphics card is a Quadro FX3450/4000 SDI.
I hope this helps.

Steve,

You mean "response time" or "latency". 12ms on our IBM flat screens.
