PDMWorks problem when the clocks went back - anyone else

PDMWorks problem when the clocks went back - anyone else

(OP)
Hiya

We run SW06 SP1.0 and PDMWorks (with the latest server update) and have experienced an issue when the clocks went back earlier this week (I'm in the UK).
When checking in a revision of a part already in the vault all the fields are red and the message

'part "XXXX.prt" already exists in vault but appears to be different from this one, check in anyway?'

appears.  Our softare provider is looking into it for us but I'd be interested to see if anyone else has had the same problem?

Thanks,

Simon

RE: PDMWorks problem when the clocks went back - anyone else

It doesn't matter what version you are using if you have Daylight savings time, then your PDMworks will be affected by the change.

From SW:

End of Daylight Savings Time and how it affects PDMWorks  In those countries observing Daylight Savings Time during the Summer this typically ends on the last Sunday in October (30th in 2005). For some customers using PDMWorks this can cause issues whereby checking in a document can falsely give the error, 'PDMWorks Warning A document named xxx.xxxxxx already exists on the vault but appears to be a different document than this one.'

This can quickly be remedied by stopping and starting the PDMWorks service. This has been submitted as a Problem Report to the SolidWorks Development Team: SPR 240268.

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried that already but it hasn't solved the problem.  Even if you check a file out of the vault and straight back in it still recognises it as a different file - any other ideas?

RE: PDMWorks problem when the clocks went back - anyone else

That has been the fix since PDMworks has been out it has never changed and always worked.

Your problem is deeper then just Daylight savings time changing mostly likely then.

After every daylight savings, you always have to stop/restart PDMW vault.

make sure when you stop and start the service that all users are logged out.  Then stop the service, and start the service, depending on the size of your vault it could take a few to several minutes to rebuild the vault.  Once the service has completely started, you should be fine again.  Like Scott said if that doesn't work, the problem is deeper, or in the method you work with the files after check-out.

Our problem was deeper that just stopping and restarting the PDM server. We also had to go into the VaultAdmin tool and check On Vault startup radio button “Every Startup”. If that did not work for you I would try the other one “Next startup”.

Thanks for the help.

Bradley, I've just followed your suggestion of validating the vault and it seems to've solved the problem - many thanks!

Cheers,
