Windward School Robotics Team CAD class/mentor in Los AngelesHelp

(OP)
Hello,
I am a member of the Windward School robotics team.
We are a USFirst robotics team based in Los Angeles.
We need to draft parts for manufacture, however we are completely inexperienced as far as CAD goes.
Does anyone know a good AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop class in the western Los Angeles area?
And, is anyone with industrial/robotic CAD experience interested in becoming a CAD mentor for the team?

Thanks a bunch.

RE: Windward School Robotics Team CAD class/mentor in Los AngelesHelp

Most important question: Must you use Mechanical Desktop? It will surely impede your progress. If I were you, I'd contact Autodesk about possible gift of Inventor license or contact SolidWorks for same. SolidWorks is also available in a student package for a couple hundred per license.

Stay away from MDT if you really want a chance to win your competition.

Trust me on this one.

Another thought: If you end up using SolidWorks, you're much more likely to find a mentor. There are several members of the SWX forum here that live in SoCal.

Again, unequivocally: Dump MDT if you want any chance of being competetive. Unless you're already very adept at it, it'll slow you down like you wouldn't believe.

Stick with Inventor, Solid Edge, or SolidWorks.

We have aquired a licence for Inventor, so we rephrase our question:
Does anyone know a good AutoCAD Inventor class in the western Los Angeles area?

Thanks!
