Mates in SW2006

Mates in SW2006

To completely locate a round part relative to another round part you need a concentricity mate, a distance (or coincidence mate) and a parallel mate. This is true in SW2005 and sometimes in SW2006. But  many times, to get rid of the - sign in front of the part I have to change the parallel mate into a coincidence mate. Has this happened to anyone?

RE: Mates in SW2006

If you're talking about the ability to spin the part "in place" because it's free to rotate axially, that happens to me all the time.  It's just one of those things I live with; there are bigger battles to fight.

RE: Mates in SW2006

If the rotation is not that critical, there's no reason to add the additional Mates in the assy.  Live with the "-" symbol.

Are you mating Plane-Plane or Plane-Surface or Surface-Surface?  Plane-Plane mating is the most robust.

The parallel mate should stop the part to rotate axially. SW2005 does that all the time. In 2006 the part also can not move or rotate in any direction but sometimes the "-" sign is still in front of the part name, in feature manager.

I do mate Plane-Plane.
