Help on biological PDO production from biomass (glucose)

Help on biological PDO production from biomass (glucose)

(OP)
I am working on designing as accurate a case as possible in Hysys for the production of 1,3-propanediol from glucose for school. I am modeling it as a 2 step process, glucose->glycerol, glycerol->propanediol. Basically I would appreciate any input on making this process more realistic. I am modeling the fermentation reactors as conversion reactors, and ignoring all the other components of biomass.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, so far the patents have not yielded as much info as I was hoping for.

RE: Help on biological PDO production from biomass (glucose)

what is your source of glucose  and what type of microbs will you use  for fermentation , will the fermentation be continuos or batch.  may you can give us more information since as i  gather the process may require distilation since have worked in a plant where  many alcohols are made from cane mollasess. thanks
