Reducing the amount of double clicking

Reducing the amount of double clicking

Reducing the amount of double clicking

(OP)
Hi all,

My colleagues and I would like to be able to reduce the amount of double clicking we have to do. Particular culprits for excessive 'DC'ing are modifying feature dimensions. It would be nice to have a keyboard press to do this or something similar, but modifying dimensions is not a menu item function so I can't programme anything.

Does anyone else share my fear of developing RSI (OOS)? Along those lines has anyone found a way to prevent double clicking by using something with the free hand. We use 3D connexion controllers. We have tried mice with extra buttons (thumb controls) to some success, but you tend to loose grip of the mouse a bit in doing so.

Thanks in advance

Hayden

RE: Reducing the amount of double clicking

I think in Windows you can set certain functions from double to single-click usage.  I don't know if this applies within SolidWorks though.  Check your Mouse control panel...

RE: Reducing the amount of double clicking

For logitech 'setpoint' will do that. Also get a good ergonomic mouse, I can't stand working with some mice, but I can double click my logitech mx-1000 all day long.

RE: Reducing the amount of double clicking

Have you tried using the Tools\Options\System Options\General\ "single command per pick"

I don't think this will work for dimensions, but it will reduce your DC'ing to some degree.

RE: Reducing the amount of double clicking

I'm with CBL except I use the Optical Trackball.  All five buttons are programmalbe specific to individual programs.

Works great.

RE: Reducing the amount of double clicking

I just tested that option further... not quite what I was thinking, but I know plenty of users that use it and like it.

Talking about setting up your moust. I have a trackball marble wheel mouse (logitech) and a spaceball. Spaceball has many prgramable buttons on it plus I can set up trackball to do a DC.

There is a new mouse that you might consider. It has like 10 buttons on it. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=10917
