PDM Works and External Excel DT's

PDM Works and External Excel DT's

PDM Works and External Excel DT's

(OP)
We are just setting up PDM Works, and had a question which our Solidworks rep could not seem to answer...

We have a number of parts/assemblies that are driven by external excel design tables (which are in turn driven by a master excel table). When we check-in the parts/assemblies into the vault, the design tables do not seem to go with them? If we attach the excel tables (as attachments) to the parts in the vaults, the external references dont seem to update.

How can we use the vault, and keep all the links and references to the external design tables intact? Does anyone else use external DT's in this way?

RE: PDM Works and External Excel DT's

In the feature tree, right-click on Design Binder, select "Add Attachment", select box "Link". Browse to your Excel file. It will be link and attached to your SW file.

No, I need the links inside the Excel file (to other excel files) to be maintained also. Still waiting for my solidworks rep to come back with some solution or suggestions...

RE: PDM Works and External Excel DT's

Did you try my suggestion? It worked for me.

So even when I move things in/out the vault, the excel tables will stay linked to the parts, and each other?

Will give it a try when I get a minute.

RE: PDM Works and External Excel DT's

If it is in the Design Binder, it is part of the SW file.
