RTV Silicone Fuel Resistance

RTV Silicone Fuel Resistance

(OP)
Are there any grades of RTV silicone that are resistant to gasoline? I did a search on this forum and came up with nothing.

RE: RTV Silicone Fuel Resistance

Yes there are fuel resistant grades, but you won't get them from your local auto supplies discount house.

Try Dow Chemicals (Dow Corning ?) GE silicones or an aircraft maintenance supplies house.

RE: RTV Silicone Fuel Resistance

A Google search for " RTV silicone gasoline resistant" gives hits for what you are looking for. One example is:

You can find answers to an amazing amount of questions using Google.

RE: RTV Silicone Fuel Resistance

Most RTV silicones swell disturbingly when fully immersed for lengthy periods in gasoline. There are available some fluorosilicone elastomers that have better resistance. Contact one of the manufacturers Pat Primmer suggests.
