Colour reference for ABS

(OP)
Hello!
I am using an ABS value white 011435 T65 bayblend, shouel I state a RAL reference to the colur iin case the company that provide the colour go bust in the future? if so where can I get this from?
Many Thanks in advance.

RE: Colour reference for ABS

If you doubt the security of supply, you should seek a second source.

How you specify the colour is your decision.

Bayblend T65 is a PC/ABS alloy, not ABS.

I suspect 011435 is Bayer's code number to identify a specific colour match.

RE: Colour reference for ABS

If your color is really supposed to be a RAL number, definately specify this instead of the individual company's color number. We use a note like:
"COLOR: MATCH TO RAL 5021
        DELTA L<0.5, DELTA a<0.8, DELTA b<0.8"

This allows us to send the part to any plastics shop and get parts acceptable to us.

If you are using some custom color to fit with your customer scheme (avoid this when possible) you should have definative samples from your customer, and note the custom color as matched from this i.e.:

"COLOR: BAYER 011435, MATCHED FROM 2000 PORSCHE BOXSTER (S) YELLOW - SEE SAMPLE #YYYYMMDD-01"

Then you know to ship the samples off when you switch plastic vendors...
