Watermark SW 2006

Watermark SW 2006

I found a thread on inserting watermarks on a drawing, thread559-55243 but I can't get a watermark in SW2006 SP1.0.  The watermark is simply text inserted at an angle.  The problem is that I can't get the text to be transparent so you can see the dimensions, lines, etc.  Or, I would like to make the text BEHIND everything, but I just can't get it to work.  I even tried transparent GIF's.  Any suggestions?

RE: Watermark SW 2006

SW06 you can send to the back and it will show the Dims but not the views.

You could just add Text to the Sheet format and use that instead.

That is what we have had to do.  I tried and tried to get to not cover things up.

Sorry, but I can't send it to the back because I can't find where to do this; and the Help file doesn't want to help.  I had already tried the "Edit sheet format" and placing it there, but the text still comes to the forefront with the views behind it.  The text is 1/2" high, at a 30 degree tilt, and takes up most of a 8/12" x 11" sheet in the landscape position. It is on it's own layer so it can be turned off on all sheets at the same time.

RE: Watermark SW 2006

You could create an image of the text in a photo editor and make it look very transparent.  Then copy/paste the image (I use jpg)to the Sheet format (edit sheet format) and then place everything on the sheet over that as you normally would.  I've never actually donr this but I believe it will work.

To send something to the back (like an image) you need to select, right click and chose "send to back".

Thanks Rockguy, that cleared up the confusion on how to send and image to the back.  But this confirms that SW cannot do watermarks properly.  When an image is sent to the back, notes and dimensions do show in front of an image.  Unfortunately all visible and hidden lines on a drawing are still behind the image.

Maybe this will work. I am assuming all your entities in the drawing are black for this to work.

Change your printer window to print in grayscale then make the watermark a color that comes out as a light gray.
