How to replace surface with another surface?

How to replace surface with another surface?

How to replace surface with another surface?

(OP)
I have a sliver of surface that I want to match with an adjacent surface.  For example, if I have a wavy surface with a cylindrical boss sticking thru it, can I convert the boss's flat surface so it becomes part of the wavy surface?  I tried the trim body command, but it is leaving  circular edge curves behind.  I need to rid of the edges so the surface is smooth and continuous.
