Scale accumulation and Filtration
Scale accumulation and Filtration
(OP)
All,
In the plant I am working we are having a problem with our quench water distribution system. The system was orginally designed with little to no carbon scale byproduct in the process. Now there is carbon scale being generated and it is getting into the water circulation system for the process cooling water. Does anyone know of the best method for filtering this out of the system.
Regards,

We have one system where there is a particular sticky monomer in cooling and scrubbing loop and we use this type filer. This might be the way to go as you mention build up.

Another type used is.

If you could comeback with a little more information about you system it would be helpful in getting you on the right track on whether you need a strainer or filter and what type.
RE: Scale accumulation and Filtration
The main circulation loop is 300GPM and the drops that feed the quench equipment are 60 GPM. The scale is being generated by the quench equipment. I would like to filter in the main loop and not at each piece of equipment.
