Moment Resisting Masonry Wall Frames

Moment Resisting Masonry Wall Frames

Moment Resisting Masonry Wall Frames

(OP)
When strength design of masonry was adopted in the 1994 UBC, one of the sub-sections dealt with design of moment-resisting wall frames.

The 2000 IBC also had provisions for masonry moment resisting wall frames in Sec 2108, albeit the 99 MSJC Code and Specs which it referenced did not yet have provisions for Strength Design.

The 2003 IBC's strength design section does not appear to have a provision under strength design for moment-resisting wall frames and neither does chapter 3 (Strength Design) of the MSJC code appear to have it.

Was this design methodology discontinued..if so why?
