Ampacity of EPR / Screened / PVC insulated cables

Ampacity of EPR / Screened / PVC insulated cables

Ampacity of EPR / Screened / PVC insulated cables

(OP)
EPR insulation has the same continuous operating temperature ( 90 deg C ) and max short-circuit temperature ( 250 deg C ) as XLPE cable.
Does this mean EPR insulated cables have same ampacities as XLPE insulated cables ?
What does the American cable size 1/0, 2/0, 4/0 etc mean ?
Does anyone know of a webpage giving ampacities for EPR insulated cables ?

RE: Ampacity of EPR / Screened / PVC insulated cables

Check the sites of Rome Cable and Okonite Cable. They list EPR in the catalog.
"What does the American cable size 1/0, 2/0, 4/0 etc mean?"
These desigation are just cable sizes. If you are trying to compare to metric check table 8 in the NEC.(back of the book)

RE: Ampacity of EPR / Screened / PVC insulated cables

Visit website of Okonite. A Googel search will get you the link.

RE: Ampacity of EPR / Screened / PVC insulated cables

EPR has higher dielectric losses than XLPE, so it has a lower ampacity.  Dielectric losses are not very significant for MV cables, however.

wareagle
Rome Cable is no more.
