[SE V16] Parametric and Families of Assemblies
[SE V16] Parametric and Families of Assemblies
(OP)
For a product I have made a parametric assembly. In the Variable Table I have a length, width and height. When I change these values, the parts change to agree with the relationships.
The customer can order this product with the dimensions he wants.
To keep the dimensions to the assembly I tried to use Families of Assemblies. For every alternate assembly the 3 values (lenght, width, height) are different.
For the standard parts and the assemblies this is no problem. The have their own drawingnumber. But for the parts with the variable dimensions it is a problem.
Unfortunately the Families of Parts isn't directly connected to the Families of Assemblies.
So now, I'm looking for a way to gave a different drawing number to every "alternate part".

RE: [SE V16] Parametric and Families of Assemblies
You cannot change dimensions of parts using family of assemblies. Instead, you will need to replace those changing parts (Family of Assembly can then be combined with family of parts. Use the populated child files in your asm, not the parent file with the definition of the family of part).
Also, you could have a master asm that you keep. Then create a new project based on that master using the revision manager : copy new files for all the asms and all the changing parts. After, you can edit the dimensions in the copied asm.
