Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

(OP)
HI, i have a new user in Catia V5R14. How do I preset it to 3rd angle projection in drafting? It is by default 1st angle Projection

RE: Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

Hi,this setting is modified in Standards (Tools/Standards). Select the drafting category and then select the file (ex. ANSI.xml) Go into ANSI/Styles/Sheet and then select your sheet size. There you can change the Projection Method.
Hope this helps.

When I go into the drafting category, I could not change the radio buttons or dimensions as they are not highlighted.

RE: Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

You have to log in Catia in Admin mode.

RE: Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

Please bear with me for asking silly question, where is admin mode?

RE: Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

Andy...

As a temp workaround until you set up your drafing standard, you can change the properties of the sheet and choose 1st or 3rd angle projection. All views in that sheet will use the same projection.

Of course, you want to do this before you add any views. And you'll have to do it everytime you make a new drawing.

Thanks jack, I have been doing this all the while that is why I need to set a standard to it as in 3rd angle Projection.

RE: Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

Which standard are you currently using? ISO

Did you try ANSI or ASME? My guess is they default to 3rd angle.

RE: Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

(OP)
Yes, the ANSI and ASME are in 3rd angle Projection but they are not in the A4 Size sheet, that is why i need to change the standards from the admin mode silverrunner is talking about, but yet to find out how to start in admin mode yet

RE: Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

we use jis standard for the a4/a3/a2.....

as far as logging in in admin, catia help files should tell you how to do this

RE: Drafting in 3rd angle Projection

Check the FAQs or search the forum for Admin Mode or Drafting Standards.  This has been discussed several times before.
