Stress concentration in splines

Stress concentration in splines

Hi all.  I am working on a splined shaft inside a transmission, and cannot find formulas for stress concentrations imposed by the splines.  Does anyone know of any online sources for this information?

RE: Stress concentration in splines

Can't help with on-line formulas, but I can tell you it's not quite that simple. Stress from splines is very much affected by spline design, quality and type of forming the splines, male and female component material, hardness, diameter, and type of loading, just to name a few.

Cool, that ought to be enough to get started.
