Writing a screen menu

Writing a screen menu

Writing a screen menu

(OP)
I revise my ACAD menus to accomodate my field of work. My current cad menu file has an elaborate SCREEN MENU. My question is this:

I want to write a submenu file for the screen menu part only. When I try to load this submenu, it does not overwrite the generic screen menu file. The only way I can get it to work is by loading the entire acad.mnu file which contains the screen menu section.

Can anyone tell me how to write the sub screen menu file so that overwrites the screen menu portion of the generic acad.mnu file? Or is this even possible? I have done this with tool bars and drop down menus, but this is the first time I have tried to implement just a screen menu file before. I assume there is some command I need to insert into the menu file, to get it to overwrite the current screen menu.

I enjoyed reading the thread. It's good to know that there are still many out there who have noticed Autodesk trying to reinvent the wheel, fixing things that aren't broke, and generally just losing ground each year after the 2002 edition marked the best Cad had ever been.

Screen menus are one of the best features ACAD has had ever since I have used it in the early 90's. The new tool pallettes are cumbersome and take up too much room on the screen, IMO.

For Autodesk to say it will no longer be supported, just shows how shortsighted its engineers have become, as well as newbies entering the workforce who had no knowledge of how good things used to be.

Since we have no plans of at present of moving to 2006 (we have seen version 2005 as nothing more than a PLAGUE) I will continue my efforts on revising the screen menus.

More than likely I will also look at SurvCad and MicroStation, as I have just about had it with ACAD.
(I NEVER thought I'd be saying this) sad times, indeed!!
