Problem: When  ballooning an assembly SW "pulls" the configuration name of the PART of a sub ass'y that the ballon is touching not the configuration name of the sub Ass'y (which is what we want in the balloon).  

How do I get SW to refenence the config name of the sub ass'y not the part that the balloon arrow is touching?

The balloons will match whatever is showing up in your bill of materials. If you want the sub-assembly (not the individual parts) to show up in the BOM... Open the sub-assembly RIGHT-CLICK the configureation & toggle-on DON'T SHOW CHILD COMPONENTS...
