titanium grade for seawater relief valve

titanium grade for seawater relief valve

I'm designing a small (>.625") diameter relief valve for use in a salt water environment and need it to retain as much mechanical strength and surface finish (it will be a sealing surface via o-rings) as possible.  Recommendations for a specific titanium or other material (or coatings).

RE: titanium grade for seawater relief valve

Inconel 725 will provide corrosion resistance, strength and minimize gall potential.

RE: titanium grade for seawater relief valve

Don't mate Ti to Ti, galling will kill you.
Is this cold seawater?  If so a CP or low alloy grade will work.

Corrosion, every where, all the time.
Manage it or it will manage you.
