Saving entire PDM project folder ???

Saving entire PDM project folder ???

Saving entire PDM project folder ???

(OP)
I have completed a project and would like to copy the entire project folder (parts, assemblies, and prints to a CD for my customer. What is the easiest/best way to do this???

RE: Saving entire PDM project folder ???

I believe PDMWorks has a Copy Project feature. Check under Vault Admin.

RE: Saving entire PDM project folder ???

If everything is under a top-level assembly (which it should be), I would recommend doing an "Open Document" operation to dump everything into a common directory.  (Make sure "Select all references" and "Include drawings" are checked under PDMWorks Options.)

RE: Saving entire PDM project folder ???

PDMAdmin's suggestion is the way I would do it. Vault Admin will let you copy project, but only within the vault.
To go in a project rhu the vault ans copy to disc can be hard and there are a lot of files associated with each part/assy/dwg file.

PDMAdmin,
That is exactly what I had done...Thanks for the confirmation. I was a litte concerned about Purchased parts and standard items that exist elsewhere in the vault structure... "Selet all references" should take care of this, hopefully.

Thanks for the replies!!

RE: Saving entire PDM project folder ???

brudje,
Does your customer have SolidWorks 2006?

Bradley,

I am not sure, I think '05 why???

By the way I opened all files from the disk I saved to last night with no issues , even toolbox parts where there...

RE: Saving entire PDM project folder ???

brudje,
By coping the files as SolidWorks files, your customer must have the same version or higher than you do. If your files are in 2006 the customer cannot read them using 2005.

Thanks... We have been exchanging files since the beginning of the project, so I don't think this is a big issue, but good point
