Thru hole callouts in drawings

Thru hole callouts in drawings

Thru hole callouts in drawings

(OP)
I'm having a problem with thru hole callouts in drawings.
A turned part is 1" long and I have an extruded cut "through all" along the centerline.

When I put it in a drawing, I use the "hole callout" feature to define the hole.  I remember a while ago, instances like this would be calle out as ex. ".250 THRU ALL" but now they are being called out as ".250 down 1.00"

I want it called out as "thru all".  How can I make it do that?  I swear it used to.

Thanks.

RE: Thru hole callouts in drawings

When you extrude the sketch of the hole, do you specify a depth or select through all? Select through all and the callout should have THRU.

If it's a thru hole, I always select through all for the cut.

It still calls out the full depth, not thru all on the drawing though.

RE: Thru hole callouts in drawings

I can't find a setting for this. When I use the hole callout, it shows me "THRU". I don't know if it has changed for 2006.

Maybe the Calloutformat.txt file was changed by you or a colleague mckeand113?

RE: Thru hole callouts in drawings

Use the Hole Wizard to make the hole. Define the depth as "through all," not "up to next," and the the hole callout feature should read it correctly. I have never had a lot of luck with the hole callout function outside of Hole Wizard features.

Sometimes It will work for me, calling out THRU.  Other times it doesn't.  I can't figure out how or why there's a difference.  In each case, it's a sketch that i extrude THROUGH ALL.

Is there anything specifically on how the hole must be started or anything else that may lead to differences?
