How do I create a foreshortened diameter, in a detail view, in SW2006 SP1.0?

RE: Foreshortened diameter

Right click the dimension, go to Display Properties.

I did and there's nothing related to foreshortened diameter. What I understand from "Help " is that the software creates it automatically in certain conditions, but I wasn't able to get one!

RE: Foreshortened diameter

Ive' always had to add it manually, maybe's there a threshold for how far the center is from the view. Don't have swx in front of me to test right now.

RE: Foreshortened diameter

I can only find an option for "foreshortened radius."  What you have to do is uncheck "Diameter dimension" under properties, then check "Foreshortened radius."  (This is in SW2005.)  You can then drag the handles to make it look the way you want.  My understanding is that you only have the foreshortened option if the center of your radius lies outside the boundary of the drawing.

This is from SW Help:

Quote:

You can create foreshortened diameters in drawing documents. If the software detects that the diameter will be too large for the drawing view, the dimension is foreshortened.

When you dimension to a foreshortened radius or diameter, the dimension also appears as a zig-zag. You can also change the foreshortened diameter display from a zig-zag to double arrows.

RE: Foreshortened diameter

But that is only if you making a Dimension from say a Right side view. then you can make the Foreshorten Radius using a Diameter. You were not clear in your inital post as to what you or how you were doing this. I think most people here didn't think you were talking about a side view in a drawing.

The way to create a Foreshorten Diameter doens't seem to be there.

You are suppose to RMB the dimension and select Disply options\Foreshorten - that is the procedure - See What's new in SW06 to find the procedure (under Drawing\Detailing)

This looks like a bug and should be turned in.
