COnfigurations seem to have stopped working.

COnfigurations seem to have stopped working.

COnfigurations seem to have stopped working.

I don't seem to be able to create configs anymore. Just a simple assy.  I create a new config, name it.  I then move some components into new positions. Save the assy. If I revert back to the default config, shouldn't the components appear back in their original positions?

Well this ain't happening, I tell you whut....

My VAR is saying I need to suppress mates and all that crap. But my mates are not conflicting from one position to another.

RE: COnfigurations seem to have stopped working.

No, you have to suppress mates per config. You can't move a component and expect the component to revert back to the default state if you don't suppress, unsuppress the mates per config.

Ok maybe I didn't explain it well...

Say you have two plates, each with one hole in it. Make the holes concentric, and mate the two surfaces together. so now the plate with rotate freely about the axis of the hole right?

Say in one config I want the plates to be approximately parallel, and in the other config I want them to be approximately prependicular.  I am just moving them by hand into position.

The configs will not retain the two positions?

(I am posting this for a co-worker. He's the one having the problem and he fears the internet) He swears he has done this in the past.

When you move the part, select "for this configuration".

Where do select "For this config"?

Found it! I'm all good!

Thanks!

RE: COnfigurations seem to have stopped working.

Go to the properties of the Config RMB the Config and make sure "Suppress New features and mates" are checked.

Activate Default Config - Make a parallel mate.

Make a new config - Suppress Parallel Mate and make a new mate  Perpendicular

RE: COnfigurations seem to have stopped working.

MMike,

Apply an angular mate between surfaces or planes of the 2 parts.  Switch to the other config, then double click the angle mate, the dimension for the angle will appear in the graphic screen.  Double click the dimension and change it as needed for the new config, be sure to select "this configuration" in the dimension window.  Now when you switch between the configs they will each be at different angles.
