connector element
connector element
(OP)
Hi,
I've modelled a motorbike suspension, which comprises hollow cylinder, rod, spring etc. Now, I want to determine the natural frequencies using Abaqus. Anyone out there has experience doing something like this? And what about the connector elements?Thank you very much.

*FREQUENCY.
Look up *FREQUENCY in the keywords manual, and it will detail how to do this.
As far as connectors go, they are basically the new improved version of modeling springs, dashpots, etc. Their functionality is similar to that traditionally used in mechanisms codes (ADAMS, DADS, Mesa Verde, et al.), but they exist within a finite element code framework. You could augment your model using connectors instead of the springs that you have modeled, but if you've already jumped the hurdles in modeling the suspension with springs, MPC's, etc., then it may not really be necessary.
However, if you are building from scratch, I would recommend using connectors from the start.

Thanks for the explanations. I really appreciate it.By the way, do U have a literature or anything useful regarding that matter?Or, maybe just a very simple geometry analysed (step-by-step)using connector element.I'm sorry if I sound stupid, but I really, really need helps and very new to Abaqus. :)
