Does anyone know how to design a CMU retaining wall?

Anyone has the experience of designing a CMU retaining wall with a concrete base where free drainage is not desireble? Thanks

RE: Does anyone know how to design a CMU retaining wall?

Sort of a silly question to ask via the web....it's not likely that we'll just sit down and start putting lead to paper....

I would venture most of us know how, but suspect that you're wanting more specific information.

Perhaps you're looking for a good reference to how to design a CMU wall.

James Amrhein  has a great reference on the material and Dickey/Schnieder have a good reference also.  But there was one reference that I saw which was entirely devoted to all types of masonry walls - and I can't recall the name of it.  It is dated material no doubt - 1950 or 1960s.

I know it sounds silly. I already found some thing on the internet. Theoritically I know how to do it. but I feel safer to know the common practice or a complete reference so I won't do something silly. Thanks anyway.
