AlSi5Cu3Mg hardness

AlSi5Cu3Mg hardness

AlSi5Cu3Mg hardness

(OP)
Hi everybody,
I need to know the typical hardness values of 'as cast'Al alloy: AlSi5Cu3Mg (5% Si, 3% Cu, 0.30% Mg), or a good reference to find them on the net.

Any suggestion?

RE: AlSi5Cu3Mg hardness

The closest AA alloy to your composition is 319. My data book from U.S. Reduction Co.shows typical hardness, as cast, of 85 BHN for permanent mold and 70BHN for sand cast.

RE: AlSi5Cu3Mg hardness

This alloy is included in the european standard with the number EN AC-45100.
"Aluminium Rheinfelden GmbH" is also selling this alloy with the name "Alufont-36"
(I reccomend to contact this company and ask for information about Alufont-36)

information about hardness - from there website:
Alufont-36 - gravity die casting
Hardness Brinell HB 5/250-30
without heat treatment:  80 - 85
with heat treatment "ka T4": 85 - 110
with heat treatment "wa T6": 130 - 145

this alloy us used for cylinder head for harley davidson - see link:
