Has anyone installed Wildfire 2.0 build M160 on Window XP64. I have installed the software with success with administrator priviledges. Now my problem. I can't get WF2 to load as a Restricted User. I have two logins - User1 as administrator and User2 as a restricted user. I have unstalled Norton Corporate Antivirus and I have tried every combination of "Exceptions under the Firewall protection" of XP64.
Can anyone help. I called PTC and the support help they provided wasn't successful. I am from the south and he was from India and with the combination of language dialects -well we tried but we couldn't communicate. I have a working knowledge of Window 2000 and some XP32. I know how to set up user accounts. I think this a firewall problem.
OH, the new computer is not on the Internet / network yet. I am still loading software.
Thanks
Texaspete

RE: New Dell WS470 w/ Windows XP64 - new WF2 64bit addition.

What is Pro/E telling you when it tries to load?

RE: New Dell WS470 w/ Windows XP64 - new WF2 64bit addition.

My guess is that you cannot load it as a restricted user. A lot of program are designed to be loaded by an administrator only.

Can you use the administrator loaded program when logged in as the restricted user? This is how all of our workstations are setup.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

Thanks for the replies,
To clarify, I did install the software as administrator (User1). As I was installing, I selected "change all user profile to run Pro/E. Next I created a restricted user (called User2). The icons in User2 appears these are the icon that appear on the Desktop "Conference Center", "ModelCheck", "Motion", "Structure", "Thermal", ProEngineer. I double click on the ProEngineer icon. I started Task Manager (Control-alt-delete) to see what changes. I can see "xtop.exe" run at 99%, but NO "pro_comm_msg.exe" and NO nsmd.exe and after one hour no Pro/E WildFire 2.0. I started "Windows FireWall"  looked in "exceptions" (under firewall) these have check marks 7777, 7788, 7799, nmsd, pro_comm_msg, proe, Proe1, Prt License Server Tools, x86e_win64_ptc_setvars, xtop.
I do not know what to to next.
I just tried this, completely turning off the Firewall. IT STILL DOESN'T WORK.
Is this enough info for someone to help.
Thanks Texaspete
