File Size Ridiculously Large

File Size Ridiculously Large

File Size Ridiculously Large

I have this assembly file that based on other similar assy files should between 10 and 15 MB, but it is up around 28 and I have even seen it temporarily jump to 40ish.  I am lost.  Any ideas on this one?

RE: File Size Ridiculously Large

Run a search here this has been discussed and the answer is in there, because I wrote it.

Thanks for the reply Scott.  Is this the thread you are talking about? thread559-135831    If so, I was curious about the "hte" file you mention as being potentially corrupt.  I could be wrong, but I really dont think it should be so large due to any of the things discussed in that thread.

Thanks for your help.
Mike

Thanks again and maybe I am just missing the pt, but here are some assy stats:

Total # of Comp: 7242
Top-Level Mates: 36
Max Depth: 4
Assy Configs: 2 (each distinguished by using 1 or another config of 3 different sub-assys)

When I save as new file, size goes to 16MB, when I save that one again it goes to 33MB.  I see some things that are mentioned discussing similar observations, but what gets me on this is that I have an assy file that is almost identical except for (and I realize these could be big except-fors) the other one has 3 configs (this only 2), and this one has a couple but not a lot of in-context holes and some basic fasteners (less than 50).

Really baffled.

If I'm ot giving the things mentioned in the threads enough credit for being possible solutions, just slap me in the face and send me back there.

Thanks again,
Mike

Also, this all starting happenin since getting a new computer which has XP Pro 2002 SP2 on it.  File was created prior.

RE: File Size Ridiculously Large

You need Solidworks Defragment.  I usually do defragment after the the day's done to keep the my assy clean.

RE: File Size Ridiculously Large

If you read through those post you will find that SW will not support you or your files if they become corrupted when you use those tools. They are a Use at your own risk. You need to be aware of that if you use them.

RE: File Size Ridiculously Large

SWISGR8, are you saving the files with eDrawing data?  That will balloon your file sizes.

I do not know if the eDrawing data option is set or not.  I have seen that concern in other threads, but for the life of me I cant find where the set for that is.  Is it still an option in 2006?
