Need fastener part files (not the ones on 3dcentral)

Need fastener part files (not the ones on 3dcentral)

Need fastener part files (not the ones on 3dcentral)

(OP)

I had a bunch of free fastener models that I used to create an assembly in SW.  Like a good little CAD user I backed up my files, but... I forgot that the fasteners were in the "solidworks 2004/data/palette parts" directory and not my working directory.

Now my HDD's crashed and I can no longer pull up my assemblies without massive errors.  I can't find the files on 3D Central any more.

Does anyone have some of these in their data directory?:

machinescrew.sldprt
Flat Washers (U.S.).sldprt
socketheadcapscrew.sldprt
Button Head SCS (U.S.).sldprt
Hex Nuts (U.S.).sldprt

Those descriptions are very general. Most of us have parts files like them, but different types, sizes, etc.
3DContent Central is not the only site to find those parts.

It's a bit late to tell you now, but that's a good reason you should NOT save any custom files in the SW install directories.
Save them elsewhere & link SW to them via {b]Tools > Options > System Options > File Locations[/b]

I've looked on a couple of other sites, but I haven't found the files.  Recommendations of other 3d content sites that might have them are appreciated.

These models had multiple configurations for different size/length of fastener.  I downloaded them originally from the SolidWorks Support area which I think morphed into 3D Content Central.  I'm hoping to find the same files so I don't have to spend a couple of days redoing mates.

As for having similar names... those are probably the files I want!  Unless you made the model yourself and happened to have named  "Button Head SCS (U.S.).sldprt", I'm guessing it came from the SW Support area.

Have the files been "deleted" from your HDD or just become corrupted? Or has the assy model just lost the links to the fasteners?

Files are gone.  Me sad.

RE: Need fastener part files (not the ones on 3dcentral)

www.mcmaster.com has many hardware files that you can download in native SLDPRT format, but they won't have multiple configs.

I'm hoping to find the same files that I had before so I don't have to reassemble them all...  I'm assuming that I'm not the only person who downloaded models from the SW Support area.

RE: Need fastener part files (not the ones on 3dcentral)

That looks like it, but I can't download it or anything else on the site.  All I get is a dead link (404 error).

RE: Need fastener part files (not the ones on 3dcentral)

Have you tried doing a Google search using some of the file names referenced in the assembly?

Eric
