(OP)
Howdy,

Need a little advice.

I’m looking at a system that will require 2 cylinders to be fairly (very) synchronous. The application is similar to a press brake, in that the 2 cylinders are moving a single, long object, down tracks. If they’re out of sync, binding will occur. Plus, this is a kinda uniform clamping operation.

So far, I’ve got 2 Bosch Prop. Valves w/ LVDT spool position feedback. Their amps operate off a 0-10 VDC signal.  Two, 0-10 VDC analog cylinder position sensors. So, I think I’m in pretty good shape for accurate speed and positioning of the individual cylinders.

What I need is some fairly simple COTS control that will take a 0-10 VDC master signal from a PLC and slave one of  those cylinders to the other. Allow  the position from the master + the position from the slave to develop the error that controls the slave. Then,  I can pick up the position from the master & let the PLC verify the slave before proceeding in the overall program.

Every search criteria I’ve tried has returned a helluva lot of hits. To everything I don’t need. Flow dividers, motor drives, etc.

Anybody out there, been there, done that, and can give me a clue?

Thanks
Ed

RE: Syncro cyl info

You didn't google 'hydraulic motion control'

Been there, done that hundreds of times.  Here is a simple synchoronizing example with foud axes.
ftp://ftp.deltacompsys.com/public/movies/EM%200405-06%20PrePaint.wmv
This installation and video was done by our hydraulic distributor.

The synchronized motion in the video was done with this:
http://www.deltacompsys.com/products/motion/rmc100/rmc100anlg.php
or more economically for your applicatio try this:
http://www.deltacompsys.com/products/motion/rmc70/axis70aa.php

No PLC was used in the application in the video, juust an HMI.  However, one can use Profibus, serial or Ethernet to communicate between a PLC and the motion controller if required.

Read this thread about a similar application
http://plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=12868

If you are still interested then state what your application is and what kind of PLC you are using and what it is trying to do.
