Base metal range (ASME IX)

Base metal range (ASME IX)

(OP)
Good Morning,
I need to understand the table in QW-423.1 page 131 of ASME Code Sec. IX, about the Base Material Qualification.
If I weld P1 to P1 pipe, am I qualified for to welder P1 to P11?
Or P1 to P11 and P34 and P41 through P47?

Thanks
Rdgs

RE: Base metal range (ASME IX)

Jean71,
In the 2004 Edition of Section IX, QW-423.1 allows a welder to weld any combination of P1->P11, P34, and P41->P49 if P1->P1 is used for the initial qualification.
However, bear in mind that this holds true only if all other essential variables remain the same.  This is not a free license for a WPQ within these P number ranges.
Regards,
RLS
