Question on A606 steel

Question on A606 steel

Question on A606 steel

(OP)
Has anyone heard of A606 Type 4 steel.  I am working on a project for a client, and they are telling me the tube material is A606 Type 4.  I have found nothing in ASME Section II(D), MATWEB.com, or in my Engineering Properties of Steel book.

They also said it is like C1010, and/or A570 Type 50.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Thanks

RE: Question on A606 steel

a606 is in astm volume 1.03 high strength low alloy  with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance

RE: Question on A606 steel

asme may not cover this specification but astm does

RE: Question on A606 steel

This standard covers HSLA steels with improved corrosion resistance.  The corrosion resistance is provided by the addition of Cu.  The nominal chemical composition requirements are as follows:

Cast or heat analysis
C = 0.22 max
Mn = 1.25 max
S = 0.04 max

Microalloy elements are necessary to meet the mechanical property requirements.  Examples of these in HSLA steels are V, Nb (or Cb), Ti, etc.

You can obtain more information on this standard using the following link to the ASTM website:
